Upper Strand, Granton, Edinburgh for Granton Residential Developments.
The latest of Edinburgh's Waterfront regeneration projects at Granton brings to realisation the first phase of the Upper Strand Masterplan a mixed use development.
The judges felt that this first phase of the Upper Strand Masterplan was a real step forward in quality and planning of the new Edinburgh Waterfront. The high density approach created some real places in an otherwise barren landscape. With a bold use of precast concrete, larch louvres and pale brick, the architects have created a beautifully crafted series of blocks and streets, which set the bar high for others to follow.
