Castlemilk Stables Block, Castlemilk for Glasgow Building Preservation Trust
The latest of Castlemilk's regeneration projects brings to realisation the adaptive restoration of this historic building.
The judges praised this conversion of a category B listed structure. The beautifully restored stone facades of this stable block conceal a dramatic and stunning addition that provides facilities for the people of Castlemilk. The architects have crafted a complex series of forms in steel, glass and timber that fold and enclose the original details of the building, whilst maintaining its integrity for all to see. It takes a bold architect and a committed client to pull off a project of such daring.
