Eden Court Theatre, Inverness
The Eden Court Theatre in Inverness has been
refurbished and extended to provide for a broader range of cultural
activities including a second theatre, 2 cinemas, 2 studios, new
offices and dressing room accommodation, including the refurbishment
of the existing theatre to provide DDA compliance and new
'front of house' facilities.
In what seems like an impossible task, Page\Park have managed to not
only restore two Grade 'A' listed buildings, the 1876 Bishops Palace
and the 1976 Law Dunbar Naismith theatre but by constructing a third
element, mesh the functions all three together to provide a stunning
series of foyer spaces.
The Judges were impressed by the sheer bravura of
the project. Whilst managing to maintain the integrity of the parts
externally, the Architects have defined through a series of dramatic
forms, a new skyline for a much loved institution which will
undoubtedly continue to play a pivotal role in the cultural life of
the Highlands.
