GIA AGM AND ANNUAL LECTURE 2009The 2009 GIA AGM took place at on Thursday 23 April at The Glasgow Film Theatre, 12 Rose Street, Glasgow, G3 6RB. President Martin McKay summarised the activities over the past year and Gordon Reid, Honarary Treasurer, presesented the Report and Accounts for the year ending 30th September 2008. Following the AGM, the 2009 Annual Lecture commenced by the showing of two short films to a capacity audience in Cinema 2. The first film was an extract from an interview of Andy MamMillan and Isi Metzstein by Mark Cousins, and he second film was a short documentary showcasing the work of MBM Architects. The guest speakers, Andy MacMillan and David Mackay, were than introduced by Neil Baxter, Secretary of the RIAS, and a lively discussion ensued, focusing mainly on the design of cities and their sense of place. The evening also launched David Mackay's autobiography, A Life in Cities. |
